Health BenefitsPrescription DrugsEligible prescription drug costs are covered up to 80%. The dispensing fee is limited to $5 per prescription or refill. The Plan covers most medications legally requiring a prescription. Charges in excess of the lowest priced equivalent generic product are not covered unless your doctor indicates on the prescription “no substitution”.
The SU Health Plan only covers those medications listed in the National Formulary, including most oral contraceptives and diabetic supplies.
Please note: A formulary change has been made for the 2011-2012 policy year and there may be a disruption in drug coverage. To verify if a prescription drug is covered or for more information, please contact studentcare.net/works at 1 866 358-4430.
Benefits are not payable for vitamins, food supplements, fertility drugs, erectile dysfunction treatments, hair growth stimulants, weight loss treatments, and intrauterine devices (IUDs). Exception ProcessIn the event that the drugs covered are not effective in treating the condition, an exception process is in place. Click here to download or print a Drug Exception Form.
