Opt Outs

You can opt out of the Health and/or Dental Plan during the Change-of-Coverage Period from Sept. 1 - 30, 2009. The Winter Change-of-Coverage Period is from Jan. 4 - 18, 2010 and is only for new students starting in January.

Opt out from the Health Plan
If you’re already covered by an equivalent health plan, you can opt out and a cheque for the amount of the health portion of the Plan will be mailed to you. You must be able to provide proof of coverage by an equivalent health plan. Your provincial health care doesn’t provide coverage equivalent to the SCSU Health Plan. Students can’t opt out of the SCSU Health Plan if they’re covered only by OHIP or equivalent primary health-care coverage.

Opt out from the Dental Plan
You may opt out of the Dental Plan without submitting proof of equivalent coverage and a cheque for the amount of the dental portion of the Plan will be mailed to you.
