Prescription Drug Claims

Prescription drug claims using your Pay Direct Card

By presenting the Pay Direct Card with your valid student ID card, you can fill your prescriptions at most Canadian pharmacies. The pharmacist will be able to process the claim immediately, so you won’t have to pay the full amount up front and wait to be reimbursed.

The Pay Direct Card is available at the Download Centre.

Prescription drug claims not using the Pay Direct Card

*** Please note that the Pay Direct Card can only be used at pharmacies. If you purchase vaccinations and contraceptives through the Health and Wellness Centre on campus, you must use a health claim form and submit it to the insurance company to receive reimbursement (see instructions below).

1. Complete the health claim form (indicate your student ID and group policy/contract numbers).

2. Attach the original receipts and documents.

3. Keep a photocopy of all forms, receipts, and documents.

4. Mail to the insurance company at the address on the form.

Pharmacy Network
The Pharmacy Network is a list of pharmacies that have agreed to charge a dispensing fee of no more than $5 per prescription to members of the SCSU Health Plan.

Your Health Plan will cover 100% of your eligible prescription drug costs (See the Prescription Drugs section for more details), as well as eligible expenses of up to $5 per prescription for dispensing fees. This means that after reimbursement, you will pay nothing for dispensing fees for prescription drugs when visiting members of the Pharmacy Network.

Click here for an updated list of pharmacies that have agreed to charge a dispensing fee of no more than $5 per prescription.
