Prescription Drugs

Your Health Plan will cover 100% of your eligible prescription drug costs. Eligible expenses for the dispensing fee are limited to $5 for each prescription. The Plan covers most medications legally requiring a prescription. Charges in excess of the lowest priced equivalent generic product are not covered unless your doctor indicates on the prescription “no substitution”. The SCSU Health Plan covers medications listed in the Sun Life Formulary, including most oral contraceptives and diabetic supplies. No prescription is required for Plan B (emergency contraception).

Diabetic supplies other than insulin are covered up to a maximum of $500 per person, per policy year. NEW - Oral contraceptives, Depo-Provera, Nuva Ring, and Ortho Evra are now covered up to $175 per policy year. All other expenses, including oral contraceptives, Plan B, and insulin, but excluding diabetic supplies, are covered up to a maximum of $5,000 per person, per policy year.

Benefits are not payable for vitamins, food supplements, smoking cessation aids, fertility drugs, erectile dysfunction treatments, hair growth stimulants, vaccines, intrauterine devices (IUDs), compound serums, weight loss treatments, and general public (G.P.) products, whether or not they are prescribed.

Contact studentcare.net/works for any additional information concerning prescription drugs.
